Our Team
The Chrysalis teachers are all aspiring Waldorf teachers that each bring their own unique experience and energy to the classroom. They value the importance of listening in the educational experience and strive to meet each child with interest and to be in service to what is rising from within them. Recognizing the importance of hands-on, practical activity as essential to the developing human being, the Chrysalis faculty works to integrate embodied learning into the activities of each day, as a balance to academic learning.
Mentoring the new Waldorf teachers is Stu Summer. Stu was class teacher for three Waldorf classes and then founded and led the EARTH program for nine years. Since then he has been focused on homeschool education. He has held various leadership roles at Hawthorne Valley School and taught Waldorf teacher training courses. With Laura Summer he has two adult children. He gardens, canoes, chops wood and tinkers with bicycles.
